Our impact
renewed lives. stronger communities.
The trauma of homelessness stifles a person’s ability to move on. Facing enormous barriers and stigma, these men and women often find themselves hopeless and lost.
Talbot House is where broken lives find hope. Working collaboratively with the community of Polk County, our staff meets the basic needs of homeless clients with dignity and the love of God. A trauma-informed approach allows clients to build trust and self-esteem while developing the skills and resources they need to rebuild their lives. Over time, they achieve meaningful personal and professional goals – improved health, employment, sobriety, and reunification with family. The ultimate goal for every person who walks through our doors is to end their homelessness through financial independence and housing.
With the support of community partners, donors, and volunteers, Talbot House leverages its $5 million budget to provide over $9.7 million in value to Polk County. Reductions in homelessness, access to medical care, job skills training and placement, educational opportunities, and affordable housing all make our community a stronger, safer, healthier place to live and work.

Real People. Real Impact.
A meal, a hot shower, a safe bed — all of these things can make a difference between hope and hopelessness to a person who needs help.
They’re such small things to most of us. But they can change lives!
Your gift allows Talbot House to do more than just feed people. It helps people transition from homelessness back into the workforce, and independence.
