It’s officially summer in Florida, which means the threat of extreme storms and even hurricanes looms on the horizon. In 2017, Hurricane Irma passed through Lakeland and Talbot House sheltered over 200 guests! In such cases, when bed capacity is exceeded, Talbot House uses inflatable mattresses and bed mats to continue accepting those seeking shelter in our dining room. We work hard to ensure that no one is turned away.

Each year, our team updates its emergency preparedness plan and stockpiles shelf-stable food, drinks, and supplies in case the power fails during an extreme weather event. You can help Talbot House prepare for a natural disaster by making a gift this summer! Your gift will go directly to purchasing bulk orders of essential supplies.
