Rob is one of those people who loves to get to know the people around him. He is full of joy, laughter, and hope! However, life is unpredictable, and sometimes even the most joyful can find it hard to navigate.

Rob’s story is one of perseverance and hope. He lived in Sarasota for 30 years, where he was a dock master, a job that he loved. Rob’s hardships began after losing his job. His coping strategy became alcohol and, unfortunately, his drinking caused more problems than it solved. He was eventually arrested for a DUI and spent nine months in jail before coming to Talbot House Ministries.

During his time in the Renewal program, he served on the janitorial, kitchen, and security teams. He attended classes that gave him tools for sobriety, financial success, and basic computer skills. He has received multiple job certificates including forklift operations, cleaning, and security through our Solutions department. He has since gained employment in our community as well. Rob says, “If you enjoy your job, it’s not work!”

His desires for the future include continued work in security, and eventually having a place to call his own. Rob believes Talbot House has transformed his life, and created the opportunity for sobriety, counseling, and even career renewal.
