Due to deteriorating health conditions, Janet could no longer work. She faced eviction, her family wasn’t talking to her, and she didn’t know where she was going to go. During a visit to the Good Samaritan Free Clinic, she learned about Talbot House Ministries and the help available to her.

“I wasn’t living; I was just existing. But I knew God, so I had hope. I decided to join Talbot House because I wanted to get back on my feet and be the strong woman that I was years ago.”

During her time in the program, God has renewed her hope and has strengthened her day by day. After years of drinking to numb physical and emotional pain, Janet is now sober.

“It’s a process, but I’m working through it. It’s not about how many times you fall, it’s about how you get up. I don’t know what my outcome is, but I know the Lord is holding me.”

Janet shares that at Talbot House she found a second family. And over time, her children and grandchildren reentered her life.

“I’m very thankful for the Talbot House. The staff is wonderful and I’m getting the tools that I need to reach my goals. This place gives me food, clothing, a roof over my head—I couldn’t ask for more. With the grace of God, I am starting to love myself again.”

Janet is an example to all of us of God’s grace and how He can bring you through any situation. Keep moving forward, Janet!
