George W. Tinsley Sr. has been elected to the Talbot House Ministries board of directors. Tinsley is CEO of PenGeo, Tinsley Group, Tinsley Bridgeman and Tinsley Family Concessions, collectively Tampa Bay’s third-largest black-owned enterprise, and one of the nation’s fastest growing independent restaurant conglomerates with 65 restaurants, including KFC, PF Chang’s, Starbucks and Pizza Hut. Tinsley has long been known for his volunteerism in Polk County, serving on a number of boards. Prior to becoming involved in the restaurant business, Tinsley, a former two-time All-American, played professional basketball and was president of the NBA Retired Players Association. He has been named to five halls of fame in Kentucky, including the prestigious Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame, and has received numerous award for entrepreneurship, including being named Florida’s 1999 Minority Entrepreneur of the Year.
