Say hello to Mr. 505!
Through our Solutions program, Michael is our five hundred and fifth Talbot House resident to become employed! He has begun working as a CNA at Wedgewood Health Center.
Joining the ranks of gainful employment are residents Arran, Terrani, Katina, and Katrina, each of whom was hired at Crown Healthcare Laundry Service. As well as Steve who was hired at the Lakeland Ledger, and Tawana who was hired at Publix.
Talbot House is more than a homeless shelter. We are a springboard to success. Much of that success can be attributed to the dedication of our Solutions team. Our Development Associate had the opportunity to chat with Solutions Job Skills Instructor, Michell Wilson, who shared how impressed she was with the residents who took the initiative to move forward with the job opportunity she briefly mentioned with Crown Healthcare Laundry Service.
“I walked in on Monday to find a group of residents dressed to impress and when I asked them where they were headed they told me they were ready to visit Crown Laundry. When we last spoke about it I mentioned we MIGHT be able to tour the job site soon. When I saw them dressed and ready I knew I had to get them a tour even if I put them on my back and took them there
myself.”
After touring the facility, every resident present was hired on the spot. Join us in celebrating the 500+ men and women who have overcome their past to take hold of a promising future!
