14th Annual Seeds of Hope Annual Benefit Dinner featuring keynote speaker, Dwight Davis, former NBA Player who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.
Lakeland, FL—Dwight E. Davis will be this year’s Talbot House Ministries Seeds of Hope Annual Banquet speaker. Davis will talk about his struggles with homelessness and addiction, and how he was able to turn his life around. What makes Davis’s story so unique?
A graduate of the University of Houston, where he still holds many basketball records, Davis played in the National Basketball Association from 1972 until 1977. Drafted as the third overall pick in 1972 by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Davis was voted to the NBA All-Rookie Team. In 1975, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. It was at the end of his career in the NBA that Davis got involved with drugs and became homeless. He will tell how he lost just about everything before he broke his addiction, and how he turned that dark period of his life into light.
In 2007, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch appointed Davis to the New Hampshire Workforce Youth Council. He has served as a board member of the Greater Seacoast United Way, and a member of the United Way Mass Bay Board. He has been appointed to several boards by New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan.
A former president of the National Basketball Retired Players Association, Davis spends his free time working with at-risk teens, teaching them lessons on and off the court.
Davis and his wife Gayle own Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast.
His personal story will inspire and uplift.
